Tier II Selections

Weekend of July 10 — Friday’s ranked selections and the wagering structure, saddle-cloth colors on every number.

How to read your card

In short: these are ranked selections. At post, strip anything under 4.5‑to‑1 to the back, read your top three as A, B, C, and play the structure below. Everything past this line is the detail.
  1. The numbers are listed in selection order, each on its saddle-cloth color. The three ringed in brass are the current top three of that ranking — not confirmed value horses until the odds are read.
  2. Check the odds before you play. Any horse going off under 4.5‑to‑1 drops to the back of the card as exacta coverage only; the longer-priced horses beneath it move up to take its place.
  3. A horse at exactly 4.5‑to‑1 moves to fourth — the race becomes a top-four (see the flex note below).
  4. Anything above 4.5‑to‑1 keeps its ranked place. Your final top three become A, B, C — your win keys and exacta keys.
  5. The morning-line favorites are provided so anyone building a line early can strip the shorts ahead of time. A guide, not gospel — set your line as close to post as you can, since odds drift.

The wager, in ABC

  1. Win: $2 to win on A, B, and C.
  2. Exacta — the weighted ladder (favorite order read at post):
  • $5 A, B, C over the lowest-odds favorite
  • $4 A, B, C over the 2nd lowest-odds favorite
  • $3 A, B, C over the 3rd lowest-odds favorite
  • $2 A, B, C over the 4th lowest-odds favorite
  1. Place: add $2 on any of A, B, C going off 20‑to‑1 or higher.
Worked example Say your ranked top three are the 6, 7, 1. At post the 6 is 3‑to‑1 — too short. Drop the 6 to the back as coverage; the next horse up, the 8, moves in. Your line is now 7, 1, 8 — read as A, B, C. Win $2 on each. Then the ladder: $5 on A‑B‑C over the lowest-odds favorite, $4 over the second, and so on. — Had the 6 instead been sitting at exactly 4.5, you'd keep it as a fourth key, D, and play all four across the top.
The flex race — a horse at exactly 4.5‑to‑1 Add that horse as a fourth key, D. The win side adds one $2 bet, and the exacta extends to four keys. Note: if the 4.5 horse is itself one of the weighted favorites, it cannot be keyed over itself, so one rung of the ladder drops out — which rung depends on where it falls in the favorite order at post. A flex race therefore runs roughly $84–$86 in reference terms, against $66 for a standard race.
The dollar amounts shown throughout are illustrative minimums, given for comparison and matching the reference units used in our published Record. Wager whatever you judge safe, appropriate, and comfortable. You must be 21 or older to participate. Some selections may lose; the winners carry the card — that is the method working as designed.

Saturday
Card in preparation
Saturday’s selections post here Saturday morning.
By 9:00 AM Eastern · Saturday
The final data lands the morning of the races. Check back then — your full Saturday card will be waiting.

Selections are listed in order, each number on its saddle-cloth color. The three ringed in brass are the current top three of the ranking — your final A, B, C are confirmed only once the odds are in and the shorts have been moved down, as described at the top of the card.

Set your line as close to post time as you can — odds drift, and a horse can cross the 4.5 line between the morning and the off. Favorite order for the exacta ladder is read at post.
